More Pics of James Hot Dog Slingin’ Machine Extraordinaire

home made hot dog cart

Check out James’s E-Z Built Hot Dog Cart. It’s a side serve beauty with a lot of cool mods.

James writes…

“Hey Steve, I thought you might get a kick out of seeing some of the modifications that I did with the cart. Knowing someone would accidentally walk into the license plate and tail light and I moved the lights to the back of the trailer. This also made fitting the skirting easy. The jack wheels needed a stabilizer to keep from collapsing. Like a dummy I put the sinks on the wrong end of the cart so the receiver now had to be made removable. You being an engineer I thought you might get a kick out of some of these.”

As promised, here are the pictures of this awesome E-Z Built. Better late than never, right James?

  6. Jim,

Greetings to you. First, what a very nice trailer that you made. A very nice looking hot-dog cart.

My question to you is how much longer did you make your hot-dog cart using the extension? I will be waiting to hear from you about this. I do thank you. Take care, Jim

  7. I chose the 48″x96″ folding trailer from Harbor Freight. I have a small vehicle so I needed the hauling capacity for coolers, tables, flags and chairs. The trailer is no longer foldable. The sink area added another 18″ inches. I tried to keep it at 10′ or under because the festival spaces here are rented at 10′ square. If you like, I’ve photo’d step by step of the building process than I would be more than happy to email you a few photos. I’m at jim@hanksfranks.net. Send me you e-dress and send you some photos.

    1. Dear Jim,

I did email you…with my email address…I will be looking forward to receiving your photos. I do thank you for doing this. Take care, Jim

  8. This may be a crazy question, but what is used to have a colored cart? Is it the same stuff that is used for lettering? Ty. KIM

  9. Kim, I had my cart “Wrapped”. A wrap is a large vinyl graphic or decal. It is applied directly over the cart. The application of the wrap allows you to change the carts appearance in a very short period of time and in turn allows you to remove the wrap, returning the cart back to its original condition if necessary (which I would not do because it’s just plain aluminum. Hope this helps.

  10. Nice cart! I have a couple of questions. Where does the cashier stand? Is that a griddle on the right? Where did you get your burner inserts? I’m thinking of building another one and like your burner set up. Thanks The Twisted Dawg.
