Hot Dog Profits Premium
member David has a great question about getting your hot dog business listed on Google.

Here is some background info on David’s question: Every Hot Dog Profits Premium and Value membership includes a free hot dog business website that my marketing team builds for you. David just got his.

Here is David’s  excellent question…

Hey Steve,

How are ya? I’m sending this to ask if you think it would be a good idea to start posting updates or info in the blog on the “find us” page now, while I’m running the contest? Will they still be able to see the post since that can only see the contest page when they go to the website? I’m asking because I wanted to start posting to attract search engines like mentioned in the tips. I just want to put something on there….probably saying no pork or the time table for opening…..something like a letter from the owner saying hello, thank you, and giving an update.

Yes, you can post updates to the blog immediately. In fact, it’s a very good idea.

The posts won’t be visible to the the public until you convert the website over to the “up and running” version (explained in the tutorial videos), but the search engines will start picking up on it right away.

If you have a Facebook page, you should post links on Facebook to each blog post on your website. That will “ping” Google and make them aware of your website so they can start including you in the search results. The Facebook page doesn’t have to be a page for your business. Your personal Facebook page will work just as well.

Here are some other social sites where you can post to get inbound links pointing to your site:

Facebook
Twitter
Pinterest
Google +
Stumbleupon
Reddit

Generally speaking, the more links the better, however don’t get spammy. If you post too many links too quickly Google can “slap” your website with a penalty for spam. You don’t want that.

One new inbound link per day to each new post for four or five day is about right.

Steve

P.S. I use the same free website for my own hot dog business. Here is a link to it: http://FrankandChips.com. Please don’t sign up to the email list as this is for my local customers only. Thanks!
