The Hot Dog Electrocuter. Craziest Hot Dog Cooker Ever.
As long as we’re on the subject of electricity, did you know that hot dogs are great conductors? Well apparently they are. In fact, this antique hot dog cooker works on the same principle as the electric chair!
Richard Larrison owns the “Worlds Largest Small Electric Appliance Museum” in Diamond Missouri. He has collected over 7000 waffle irons, coffee pots, blenders, mixers, electric razors, and (drum roll please….)
The Hot Dog Electrocuter!
Impale a hot dog on the electrodes, flip the switch, and you’ll soon have a nice hot electrocuted hot dog. Zaps five dogs at a time. The manufacturer claims that, “Electrocuted hot dogs are delicious!”
Who thinks of this stuff?!!!
-Steve
P.S. Hot dog blindfolds sold separately.

Ha! I remember doing that in science class as a kid; I never realized someone made and sold an actual “cooker” on this principal! That’s pretty awesome!
Imagine trying to sell this gadget today. Good luck getting it UL certified, lol.
Hi Steve, had a similar device that would cook maybe 6 dogs in a short time but the dogs tasted like electricity; a certain tainted , burnt flavor and blackened holes where electrodes were stuck in. Used it 1-2 times and collected dust til we threw it away.
That’s funny Randy.
I went to school in Northwest Indiana in the mid to late 60s. We built these devices in high school shop classes, wood shop and electric shop. This kind of worked but boy were they dangerous. As they now say, don’t try this at home! I enjoy your postings very much. Keep up the good work.
Have A Blessed Day,
Jerry
How did we ever survive? LOL.
I have had them cooked that way years ago, and found the had a burnt electrical taste.
May be good for some ,but not for my dollar. It’s like something that had metal twist tie and went to long in microwave. My opinion.
I’ll bet you’re right Lynn. Very descriptive, by the way!
I like the machine matey !!
Could be really handy, but I wouldn’t even serve Oscar Mayer dogs to the sharks !!
Arrrr har har !!
1St Mate Jim.
I be with ye mate. All beef ‘r nuthin. Arrrrr!
this kind of”thing”is what this country great
Indeed Joe.
Do you remember the presto hot dogger sane principal. ouch
I do! That’s a blast from the past Earl.
That is just shocking Steve. Who would do such a thing to that little weenie. Good ol American ingenuity at its finest.
LOL!
If this had been anywhere near April 1st, I wouldn’t have believed it! I wonder how many people shocked themselves in the process.
Probably a lot.
Well, it was the FIRST thing I thought, Robin, so I looked at the calendar to make sure it WASN’T April first.
And of course, Good Find Steve.
I should have saved this one for 4/1 I guess.
That is overcharging (for)your wieners.
ThAT is FuNnY!
That was like, the next best thing to a microwave.. Microwave cooked dogs are the best tasting hot dogs, nobody has ever said.
I call those “nukers”. I only do them at home in a pinch. Even at home I always use water and I even steam my buns. Die hard I guess.
I want a 12 volt model for the cart. you know there’s people who will think there the best dog in town and what a show.
You’re right!
When I saw this knowing Steve I checked my calendar to make sure it was not April 1st thought I had lost a few months lol
I’m starting to think I have a reputation…
As a kid in third grade I picked up a Presto Dogger at Salvation Army for a dime, got my mom to buy a few packs o’ franks and buns, relish, catsup and mustard at Pack N’ Save. Mom was a teacher at a rural school, and somehow I was able to go to the bus barn during lunch plug in and sell and sell em for a buck a piece. Too bad I ate all my profits!
That’s awesome Frank!!!
I had one of these growing up. Wish I still had it. Not that the hot dogs were tasty. Just a good memory.
I have one of those in my collection of antiques.
Very cool James!
I can remember eating electrocuted hot dogs when I was young. I really liked how they tasted.
That is a way cool and dangerous-looking device! You can get vintage Presto Hotdoggers on places like eBay for about $50. Same principle. From what I hear about the taste of dogs cooked with these, it’s more of a curiosity than anything else.
Hi all the presto hot dogger with dome cover and sliding tray the prototype was created by myself and class mate in electrical class for a fund raiser which the shop teacher told us. He sold prototype with out telling us .the prototype was made of wood and plexiglass cheated once again!
