I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the men and women who served or are currently serving in our armed forces.
America wouldn’t be the land of the free without your sacrifices.
I know that many of you who read my newsletter are veterans.
If I have spoken with you on the phone and I know you served in the armed forces I probably thanked you for your service. That’s something I have tried to make a habit of.
I have the utmost respect for you and consider each one you a hero. This is your day. You and your families should be incredibly proud.
If you are a reader who is currently active duty, in the reserves, or served in the past, I would be honored if you left a comment below and told me and the other readers about where you served and what your duties were.
That way I can thank you publicly. It’s the least I can do to repay a great debt.
May God bless you and keep you from harm.
-Steve
Thanks Steve.
I too send out my thanks & heart felt wishes to all the vets & all those families who have lost someone. It’s because of them that we can enjoy the freedoms we have. I will always remember & will always extend my hand when I see them on the street to say thank you. SEMPER FI brothers.
1St Mate Jim (USMC)
Thank for remembering Steve.
Thank you Jim.
Thank you for your kind words, Steve. My brother, Dan, was a navy man, as was our older brother, Mike. Mike was scheduled for a trip to Viet Nam, but sadly, died in an airplane crash 6 months before that tour. Dan did his time all over the Mediterranean and up and down the east coast. He is currently on the State Police commission here in CT, retired from the Federal Dept. of justice having served in good standing for 20 years as a Federal prison guard/teacher.
Thanks Dan and my thanks to Mike.
Hi Steve, I appreciate your warm comments. I served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 -1975.
As you know there were not a lot of thanks back then when you came home from duty. It is really nice to see veterans day now is very special for all of us.
Thanks again . I was proud to serve Our country.
Kevin
Thank you Kevin.
Kevin, that’s the time my brother was in. Where were you in those years? You two might have met.
Robin
Hello Everyone, I was just wondering if any of you slingers were offering free dogs to vets and military persons? Believe it or not, not too many places are offering discounts and freebees. Tis a sad day in America when we forget what this great country was made and built on…Blood, sweat and tears..the sacrifice of life..both men and women.
I gave away free hotdogs today to anyone in the military or was a vet. Boy did it feel good. Payment was the plenty of thank you’s from our men and women. God bless America!
Awesome. Thanks Steve.
Thanks Steve,
Still Serving on active duty in the Army after 20 years, starting to think about retirement, but 39 is just too young. I’ve been everywhere in the Army, and have been in either Iraq or Afghanistan or preparing to go, for the last 10 years. I spent my time as a Drill Sergeant at Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri, and will probably retire somewhere in Missouri, as my daughter lives and works in St. Louis County…Thanks for the kind words, and the great website.
Dave
Fort Leonard Wood is about an hour from here. Thank you for your service Dave!
Thanks Steve for the kind words, and thanks to all the Vets out there. I joined the Army in 1963 and back then they were sending what they called advisors over there.
So nobody was really familiar with the word Viet Nam, So they sent me to a place called FORT POLK Louisiana 17 and stuck in FORT POLK I’m sorry the memories gotta go.
Thank you Pat.
Thanks Steve it is greatly appreciated. I too served when those words were not often heard.
U.S.M.C. Semper fi
Thank you Rick.
Air force 10 yrs! 4 tours OEF three Afghanistan and 1 iraq
Thank you Travis.
Thank you countless times over Steve. Kevin C hit it on the nose when he ccommented there was little or nothing for us when we returned home from Southeast Asia. The only kind word I ever received was when I checked in through customs in Hawaii. The clerks’ words were “Welcome home Sargeant.” I still feel an emotional surge when I think about it. I served in the Air Force as a career both in the military (25 years) and as a civilian (25 years). Now that I am fully retired I take every opportunity to thank my brothers and sisters in arms and thank them for their service both active and retired. May God bless you for your thoughts and God bless our fellow veterans both active and retired.

Thank you Ed.
Thank You Steve. I served in the Army right after I graduatedin 1993. My mos was 32U. The Army gave me a great foundation and much confidence. I have been to Japan and many other places that I would have never gotton the chance to visit
otherwise. I’m glad to have served this great country. Thank you for all you do and giving vets the knowledge to start a business where we can take advantage of the
freedom we have in this country.
Thank you.
Thank you Steve for a great website and for remembering all of us who served. I served in the Navy during 65-71. We were scheduled to deploy to Viet Nam when we were bumped by a Senior Skipper who needed the combat experience and we were sent to the Med for 6 months (rotten duty but SOMEONE had to do it 🙂
I’m setup close to a Recruiting Facility and my policy, since I started, was Uniformed Military eats free. I’ve even set up a deal with the Recruiters; If they get someone to enlist, they send them down to me and I send the recruit back to the office with chow for everyone. Makes me feel proud to have served.
Fair winds and following seas to all of you doggers!
Brian
Thank you Brian. And thanks for taking care of the folks still in uniform.
Thanks Steve; Served both in the Navy and the Coast Guard for over 30 years. I came from a Naval Legacy, (both my father & mother, and she out ranked dad). I had more fun than anybody deserves. My grandson graduated boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. And is now at Fort Carson, Colo.

“My gig is strickly BEACH one.” I LOVE it!
Thank you for your service Doug.
Your support is priceless! Its great to be remembered on this special weekend.
I served 5 years in the USMC, got out as a Sergeant. I was on a WESTPAC deployment on liberty in Darwin, Australia when a couple bums decided to fly into the Twin Towers. That pretty much defined my service. In a nutshell, while stationed in southern California, I served 1 tour in Afghanistan and 2 tours in Iraq. All of which were horrible experiences that I wouldnt trade for anything in the world.
Semper Fi to my brother/sister Marines and everyone else who thought it best to put their hot-dog-lovin’ country’s needs before their own. Thanks Steve, for the opportunity to share!
Thank you Al.
