Nice, Ray! More pics at the end of the article…
Hi Steve,
I recently finished my EZ Built Cart, and am excited about starting in the Hot Dog business when the Michigan winter breaks.
Compared to some of the carts I’ve seen on Hot Dog Profits, mine is pretty basic, but I had a great time building it. I have very limited carpentry experience, so I am proof that anyone can build their own cart if they put their mind to it.
Your build a hot dog cart videos were well organized and easy to follow, and your Carts of Cash book has given me a head start on running a successful business.
Based on the first two products, I will be ordering the Cash Tracker system before I’m up and running.
Anyway, thanks again for providing great materials for my new venture.
Regards,
Ray T.

Thanks for the kind words Ray. I have a great time helping folks get started in this wonderful business. Hot doggers are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met.

Stands out. Good luck. I’m about
A week away from finishing mine.
I’m in no way a carpenter either but,
Found the plans very easy to follow.
The cart looks awesome. Find an equally great spot and you’ll clean up.
Limited carpentry skills!!! That cart looks fantastic!!! Good Luck Ray………
Thanks to all for the encouragement. I will be starting out in Washtenaw County (Ann Arbor). My longer term plan, however, is to move to Denver where the winter is a little milder, and where my four grown kids live (first grandchild is on the way). It’s great to have a community like Hot Dog Cart News where we can all share our experience in the hog dog business. Thanks Steve!
Country,
Send me some pics of your cart when you finish it. I’d love to see it!

Nice looking cart you did a very nice build, hope your new cart is profitable. All my friends and family thought i would havwe to hold down another job, looks like i get to have the last laugh. All the way to the bank. Ive done freedom festival events, farmers markets, catering to major factories in my area, besides for my everyday street corner, so never limit your ability with your cart. In June, July i worked everyday accept 2 rain days.

iT MIGHT BE BASIC BUT VERY EYE CATCHING U’LL DO FINE
Ray, I also “Doggit” in MI. Did you check with the Health Dept. on Specs. Unless the code has changed, MI requires 3 sinks, Wash, Rinse & Sanitize. Seems senseless, I know, because you don’t wash anything on site. When I purchased my cart, it came with one sink. I carried 2 dish pans with me and set them up on a little table w/ dish soap, until I purchased a double sink and my husband attached them. I could show the Sanitarian that I had extra tongs and such.
“Nice lookin’ cart, Ray !”
Those bright colors on your umbrella will attract the customers. I’m still out doggin’ here in Denver…in January !!!
“If you park it…they will come !”
LOL
Hi John,
A suggestion for menu signs for your cart…Get a large white erasable board and throw some hot dog, chips, soda, etc pics on your sign along with your prices. It gives you the freedom to change prices if need be and is very visable to customers.
Try it…it has worked for me !

Welcome to the Dog world! Good Luck! Nice Rig!
Looks great – very eye catching for sure! Best of Luck! Sue and Rena
Cool. I also like the white trim. You’ll love Denver. I live in southern Colorado but lived in Denver for 30 yrs. I’m just starting up myself so good luck to the both of us!
Margie, I did check with the Washtenaw County Sanitarian before I started to build my cart, and he told me there was no 3 sink requirement. We’ll see when I get the cart inspected in the near future! Worst case, I’ll add the sinks, or temporarily use dish pans like you did. Thanks for the tip.
Where did you purchase the imbrella? I have been looking for a colorful one like that
Oh I forgot to tell you the cart looks great.
Great lookng cart. Don we got that same umbrella at Sam’s Club 24.99 it,s snowing in so west Arkansas

Love your cart! And REALLY LOVE THAT UMBRELLA! I’d stop by just for that! Your cart is great and a real eye catcher. I might expect to see something like that on a boardwalk by the sea somewhere or on a local beach.
My wife purchased the umbrella from Sam’s Club a few years ago for the beach, and we never used it. It came in handy after I built the cart! Unfortunately, there is no marking on it to look up the manufacturer. It’s really sturdy — when I took the pictures the wind was practically gale force!
$30 bucks gets you an umbrella from sams club….It has plastic ribs that will flex when you get wind gusts, much better than those with metal ribs. I have gone thru many sabretts, hebrew national, and vienna umbrellas.
Great cart Ray !! Love the colors. I hope your start up goes well for you.
You will have a lot of fun & meet lots of great people ! Best of luck to you.
1st mate Jim.
Nice looking cart Ray….a couple of people looking for umbrellas…one suggestion…whatever you do DO NOT use umbrellas that have wooden shafts. I had one snap in two (about 6 inches above the joint) and the umbrella flew about 35 feet in a strong (35 mph) gust of wind…..children playing in the area….could have been disastrous…I am switching to an aluminum umbrella!!
Great advice Larry!!! – our cart has experienced
scary wind gust and yes – no one was hurt! Saftey first! Sue and Rena!
Sam’s Club umbrellas outlasting the more expensive ones? Hmmm….
-Steve
Great Looking Cart Ray…you can find all kinds of decals for hot dog products on ebay under hot dog carts. Eraseable white board sounds good as someone sugested. You might be able to get some erasable material strips from a hobbie shot and either use velcour or magntic material to hold them on your board so you can change the menuse by just erasing the words on the strips. Good Luck.
Looks great mine in almost finished good luck
Ray, Fantastic Job, You Rock those Dogs!!
Great looking cart Ray! When I first saw it I was shocked at how much it looks like the one I built lol! I’m about 2 weeks away from starting to sling dogs myself. I’m still waiting on my logo and getting my insurance in place. I’ve found the doggers here to be very supportive and helpful. May we all do well! Good luck!
Go get ’em Chris! And send pics.
-Steve
The cart looks fabulous…..I am very happy for you….
Very Nice hot dog care Ray
