Hot Dog Cart News

WEIRD Hot Dogs… Woah!

HDCN reader Andrew Sawyer tipped me off to these hot dog creations.  There are some creative folks out there!  Some of these are not hot dog cart – friendly, but they’re all worthy of home cooking for the family.  Except for the last one – yuck!

Here we go…

Spaghetti Dogs – Looks like it was made in the Play-Doh Fun Factory press.  The creation of this meal is actually not very labor intensive: Simply puncture slices of raw hot dog with uncooked spaghetti noodles and boil. Continue reading “WEIRD Hot Dogs… Woah!”

And the winner is…

You people are serious about your contests!!!

We set a new record for the number of comments in a single post – 148!  Don’t you have anything better to do?

Just kidding. I love it! You guys are the best. And when I say guys , I mean it in a non-gender specific sense. Because fortunately, half of you aren’t.

Guys, that is.

Anyhoo, I had a really hard time picking a winner so I did what I always do when faced with a very difficult decision.

I bent the rules.

I picked three. You each win a pair of chip clips, courtesy of HotDogProfits.com.

Third place goes to the workhorse. Funny or not, you posted more comments than anyone else (yes, I got a laugh out of them).  Jim –  you’re a winner!

Second place goes to the most creative online name. Dog and Coney Show (that cracked me up – very creative) – you’re a winner.

And first place goes to the comment that made me giggle for most of yesterday evening, “Honey do you think this house makes my bun look bigger?” Truly funny stuff Rick, aka The Dogfather.

You’re each getting a pair of chip clips. Congratulations.

I’ll send each of the three wieners an email today asking for your shipping address.

This was awesome!

The last contest was so much fun, I’ve decided to do it again.

A free pair of hot dog cart chip clips to the best caption for this picture. FYI, the girl driving the Wienermobile was turning around in someone’s driveway, thought she was in reverse, and stepped on the gas. Turns out she was in drive…

Go ahead and leave your caption in the comments. Yes, you can leave as many captions as you want because like I said before, I don’t know how to stop you. 🙂  Whichever one tickles my funny bone the most wins.  I’m closing the comments section at 6 pm central time on Wednesday Aug 19.

I’ll announce the winner right here in Thursday’s issue of Hot Dog Cart News.

Have at it!

Hot Dog Cart Radio – Interview with Rocky Marlow of “Rocky’s Wiener Wagon” in Hopkins, Minnesota

Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest last week. Man, did those comments come in fast! I was watching on my iphone from a restaurant near the beach.

So I’m officially back from vacation.  You know life is good when you can’t wait to get back to work.

I recently spoke with Rocky Marlow about his hot dog cart operation in a suburb of Minneapolis.

Rocky is another unfortunate victim of the recent economic weirdness and found himself without a job. Instead of sitting around feeling sorry for himself, he decided to take charge of his situation and pursue a long time dream.

With the support of his family, “Rocky’s Wiener Wagon” was born.

A great location in downtown Hopkins was secured and Rocky was on his way. He says he’s enjoying a lot of success and having a wonderful time as well.

I always say, when one door closes another one opens and Rocky’s new business is proof.

Enjoy the show!

Hot Dog Cart Insurance – Who Do You Use?

I just got an email from HDCN reader Tim who’s hot dog business “Get Grilled” is taking off like a rocket. Tim got his start here at HotDogProfits.com and was kind enough to give me a great interview which you will be hearing on Hot Dog Cart Radio some time in the near future.

When your business expands as fast as Tim’s, you are going to have some
growing pains. One of Tim’s pains is insurance. He writes,

Hi Steve,

I am now moving into a bit bigger venues. Remember when i told you that my business has been operating on word of mouth advertising? Well word of mouth has been good. I now have the local director of economic development and several chamber of commerces contacting me for gigs. I have a Country Club Charity event on the 8th of August and I have been asked to set up in a local business parking lot on Saturdays and Sundays after that.

I have been looking for liability Insurance for the last couple of weeks and have had a hard time finding people to cover me. Now that I am stepping out big time, I need to CMA.

Thanks,

Tim

O.K loyal readers, it’s time help a fellow dogger.

Who do you use for hot dog cart insurance? Please provide the name of the company and their phone number in the comments section along with any suggestions or tips.

As my high school football coach used to say, “Let’s go girls, I want to HEAR YOU!”

I love it when we all get together to solve a problem. With your help, this will become a great resource for hot dog cart insurance for all of us.

Thanks for sharing!!!
