Mad Dogs Hot Dogs. Check It Out…It’s GREEN!

Yellow. Red. Yellow and red. Red and yellow. Don’t get me wrong, I love yellow and red E-Z Built Hot Dog Carts, heck – mine’s yellow too. Being noticed is the first step in the sales process so visibility is the name of the game. But I also love it when something different comes along. When you see the pictures below you will […]

Loeb’s Onion Crunch

Update 4/14/11: A few days after this article went live I was contacted by Nick Loeb the owner of Loeb’s Onion Crunch! He was amazed at the response this article generated. Apparently a few of you even posted pictures of your Onion Crunch topped hot dogs on Facebook. That’s awesome! Anyway, I asked Nick if he would like to do an episode of Hot Dog Cart Radio with me and he graciously agreed. It was a fun interview and we even ended up turning it into a contest at the end. Nick is giving away a ____ ____ _ ____ ____!!! Thanks Nick!!! (You need to listen to the interview to find out what the prizes are and how to win them.) Game On Dawg! $1500 Days On the Festival Circuit.

Hot Dog Cart News reader Cary Budach wrote in a while back to tell me about the PHENOMINAL success he's having with his hot dog cart business, "Game On Dawg!" Cary writes... Steve: We started our 'Dawg' business in September of 2009 with one cart, and a bunch of hope. Our first location was an [...]

Water to Propane Converter.

You gotta love modern technology… I have been playing around with the water heater on my E-Z Built Hot Dog Cart, doing some experiments based on the ones I remember from high school chemistry class. I took the thing apart, and discovered that with a few simple modifications I was able to get it to perform a crude form of electrolysis. Now that’s just a fancy-schmancy chemistry word for using electricity to separate the water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen which are the main ingredients in propane. OK, enough geeky science talk. Here’s how it works. […]

E-Z Shelf for Your E-Z Built Hot Dog cart

You probably remember Ron’s orange E-Z Built Hot Dog Cart. It’s full of incredible details like the cool recessed squeeze bottle holder in the picture above. Well he just showed me how he made a simply INGENIOUS removable shelf for it. Read on… Steve. just wanted to share this with you. I made a easy on and off shelve 40”x 6” 16 ga. with two 1” 1/2 bends, I screwed a small hunk of metal, to keep the center from bending under extra loads. Thanks, and keep up the good work. Ron ********************* This is brilliant. Look at the pics below- […]

Sgt Kevin Alcorn – From The War In Iraq To Three Hot Dog Carts In California

This is why I do what I do… Steve, I know you get a lot of emails and you probably dont remember me, but I was the guy you sent a FREE book to when I was in IRAQ back in 2008/09. Anyway, I live in southern CA and you know how stringent they are, well long story short I just came back from picking up my third cart tonight from Los Angeles. It has had its ups and downs but I now have three carts in two different cities and am now pretty much debt free and have never been so happy and I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. When things got hard I always thought about […]

Steve I hope I didn’t send you too many photos, but I’m very excited thanks to you. Check it out and let me know what you think. Everything works great. The hot water works perfect, the burners work great. Thanks again . You made it happen. Pat. P.S. I owe you big time. Check out these photos of Pat’s recently finished E-Z Built Hot Dog Cart. Crystal’s Hot Dog Sauce Recipe – The Perth Amboy Original

Wow! What a great response we had to the hot dog condiments and toppings article. In keeping with that theme, I’d like to pass along a real gem from HDCN reader Michael Sacher… Steve, I was organizing my recipes for a family cookbook that my wife is publishing. Among them was a recipe for a coney sauce from Crystal’s. I have the original recipe and here it is: PERTH AMBOY’S  CRYSTAL’S HOT DOG SAUCE Yes everyone, this is the REAL THING original. This was gotten directly from the owner of Crystals sometime in the early sixties. You will notice that this […]
