Mike, you did an awesome job. That thing is shiiiii-neeee! I’m really proud of you, man!

Mike watched the DVDs in my training package, followed the simple instructions (especially the fifth DVD – great job!) and ended up with the fine piece of machinery you see in the pics below.

Let’s give Mike some well deserved kudos in the comments section below.

Now get out there and sling ’em, my hot doggin’ brother!

  1. Wow, that looks very sharp! Awesome job Mike, I’m sure you’re going to attract customers just on the cart alone! I’m gettting my cart reskinned in stainless steel and hopefully it will be ready to display for this weekend! I’ll post pics of the cart on my facebok page. Good luck and much success!

  2. Steve I love the detail on the doors I would love to get instructions on the way they are built or better yet a video. Hint Hint Hint.
    Great Job Mike!
Did I say I love the doors?

  3. Now thats a fine piece of machinery! Great Job. I see the Colo tag so no doubt I’ll get to see your hard work PAYING OFF. I’m waiting for my skin to arrive to finish up mine. Apapahoe cty wouldn’t go for the painted wood. Just smile n wave bro, Smile n Wave!

  4. Outstanding job, Mike! Attracting attention is job #1, and you have done it very well.
    Best of fortune to you.

  5. Looks great Mike! Where did you find the the metal skin? I’m in the middle of building my cart and am having a heck of a time finding anyone that has .025″ aluminum tread plate.

  6. Hello, Mike and Steve!

Mike your encougering me to use stainless steal on my cart I am currently building. However, it is a bit small for me, but it should serve you very well. I hope that soon enough though I can take some pic’s of my ideas of a cart and send them to you steve and then you can put them on your website if, you wish too!

However, I am not sure where everyone is getting their umbrellas. The one I purchased from Habor Frieght is pretty small. Maybe they just look bigger on the photo’s. Also, everyone elses are colorful. The one I purchased is brown, not a real pleasent color! However, I have some ideas that may change that too, but I’ll still will invite any ideas?

Congrads, again Mike on a job well done!

  7. Very nice job on that cart. I noticed you also have two gas tanks. Nice idea. Is there a way to see how low on gas you are?

  8. Great job! I wouldn’t mind knowing the final cost as well. Another question, do you actually ever use the grill? I have one but have never used it.

  9. Hey Mike,

Great job! I noticed your trailer looks different from the one I got at Harbor Freight. In particular it has a much different tongue on it… did you convert a Harbor freight trailer, or is this a trailer from a different source? Also, are the tires bigger than the # 42708 trailer? If the trailer is from a different source could you please share that information? How much did that trailer frame cost??? This info would be greatly appreciated and again your cart is wonderful. Would love to hear more about where (and maybe how) you made changes….

  10. To Mark Smith;
I welded parts from a bed frame trying to get more stability. I bought the trailer from harbor freight w/12″ wheels. Cost was around $ 200.00.

  11. Wesley/hogs dogs express,
The doors are made of 3/8″ plywood then covered
over with the (24 gauge) diamond plate aluminum sheet. Liquid nails tube glue, was used to secure the metal to the wood. Home Depot sells the aluminum channel and angle from $ 8-15.00 per 8′ length.
I glued then clamped the channel (1/2″) to the outside edge of the door overnight. So far..so good. Good luck!~mike

  12. SGT D, Esteban, Donny Hill, and all the others – I’m glad you all like my cart. It was nice of you to write. Thanks!~mike

  13. Nelson/Lodaddys Hot Doggin,
It was nice of you to write. I know…different places want different things. Good luck to you! Thanks!~mike

  14. Mike, The aluminum diamond (24 gauge) plate, was purchased locally in the Denver area. I used 2-4’X8′ sheets and the cost, $ 170.00. Glad you like my cart. Thanks!~mike

  15. Will, The cart has the steamer as well as the portable grill. I had a quick-release propane hose made for the grill and I able to store it inside of the cart, when in motion. I like my dogs grilled. Thanks!~mike

  16. Paul -“Chappy”
    I’ve done the best I could…this time!
I’d do a couple things different, next.
    Glad you like it!
Thanks for taking the time to write!~mikep

  17. Papa Dave, Do you really think so?
Flashy is good? I’ve never sold a hot dog in my life!
    I want to sell many.
    Thanks for your best wishes!~mikep

  18. Gregory,
Man, I ‘m telling you…I now have some great ideas for types of vending carts. The first one was tough!!
Lets see what you got. mrpearson1@comcast.net
    Thanks!~mike

  19. Hey Mike. Nice job on the metal cart. I had planned on converting some stainless steel tables into rolling hot dog carts/counters, with the help of someone I know who can do metalwork, but I really liked the job you did with your metal cart.

I live on the westside of Denver, closer to Lakewood. Any chance I could come by and check out your cart in person? Let me know. Thanks.

I am leaving my 12-13 hrs/day x 6 days/wk job to start working on my hot dogging career at the end of this week, although it will probably take a few more weeks to get through all of the various steps to setup my biz.

Again, Mike, GREAT JOB on your metal cart.
