Steve,
I have another quick question. When it comes to burners and BTU what do you recommend?? For some reason I have seen hot dog carts for sale with burners from 7,000 BTU to 36,000 BTU. Thats kind of crazy. Could you shed some light on this.
Thanks as always,
John C.

Hi John,
High BTUs let you heat your water a lot faster. After the water comes up to temp you can shut the burners off or at least turn them way down to save propane. A low BTU burner will require you to run your burners on full blast most of the time which uses more propane.
Cold weather vending will make it painfully obvious if you have too little BTUs. Waiting 45 minutes for your water to heat up is a pain in the you-know-what.
My personal E-Z Built cart has two burners each rated at 15,000 BTUs which give me 30,000 total. I wouldn’t want to operate with less.
I hope this helps!
What say you slingers? How many BTUs do you operate with and do you wish you had more?
Steve
I have been having problems with the valves and burners originally supplied by All American. What brand and models are you using on your carts and where and for how much can I buy them. I am so tired of replacing valves and my burners often seem to cause too much carbon buildup. Getting a nice blue flame seems to be impossible lately.

I have been using my EZBuilt cart for going on 4 years now and I have plenty of heat. It is equipped with the propane stove from Harbor Freight tools. My first stove had an auto ignite feature that I really like. When I bought my backup stove for bigger events it did not have the auto light feature. Anyone know when and why they took that feature off?
I don’t know but I wish it was still available.
You can purchase a device to auto start at WalMart not sure of the price look in the lawn and garden grill section!

Steve; how are you doing ? Been as little while since we last talked. The stove you recommended from Harbor Freight cranks out more than enough BTU’s. I run the small burner on low all day under the steamer, and the large one, I only run when I have to have boiling water to bring the dogs up to temp.
Steve, I finally took the plunge, I take my cart downtown by the gas & Power companies pay office. I make more money per day than at my old job; and usually in half the number of hours. Hot Diggidy Dog, what a cool way to supplement my military retirement. I will send you some pictures.

OK! That is real good to know. Thank you, Steve!
You can buy the (pezo) spark ignighters from Lowes, Home depot, gas company hardware store. adapt them to your stove or grill mount the striker then run the electrode to the burner and attach it there need about a 1/8 inch gap for the spark to jump and light the gas
