I just got a call from my friend Kenny Grant in South Carolina. Last night someone stole his enclosed utility trailer. Inside the trailer was his E-Z Built Hot Dog Cart and a lemonade stand. See the pictures below.
We’re not sure if the thief plans to use them or sell them so please keep your eyes peeled. Kenny’s E-Z Built Hot Dog Cart is easily recognized by it’s full length sneeze guard. Also keep in mind that the thief may paint these before trying to sell them.
If you see either of theses units on the street, at fairs and festivals, or for sale on Craig’s list or eBay please call Kenny at 864-419-0021.
Thanks slingers!
-Steve
UPDATE: The carts have been recovered! The local police got a tip about a stolen trailer at the same time that Kenny filed a report. The two descriptions matched up and law enforcement officers located the trailer and arrested three individuals. They had already sold the hot dog and lemonade carts but had not collected payment. When the police stopped them, they were on their way to meet the buyers and deliver the carts.
Thanks so much for all your support, help, and prayers. HDCN readers are the BEST!!!
-Steve
People Suck! If I see them in North Eastern FL, I will notify you and the local police.
Where in SC?
Man, that really sucks. That’s a livelihood, not just property. For someone who is just getting into the slinging business, it makes me rethink security. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for you, Kenny. I hope that with the community of HDCN that together we can find your cart.
Sorry to hear about this, Steve. I will keep my eyes peeled for ads on Craigslist, Newspaper, etc. Hopefully someone will recognize this beautiful cart and report the thief!
What a Miserable person to steal. He/she must have been absent for the day God covered “Thou shalt not steal” I will pray for you that they find it.
Geeez that makes me sick. Hope he somehow gets it all back and they catch the sorry bas***d.
I’m in Myrtle Beach and will keep an eye out. Its fall bike week here and lots of vendors popping up.
I feel so bad that you are having to go through this experience. Been there myself.
There is no lower life-form on the planet than a thief !!! A thief is worse than a murderer, because, a thief will take the life out of your body for a lousy dollar bill. A murder will only kill you out of passion, or for a price that he (or she) gets paid, or by accident. A thief is too lazy to work or make a thing thier self and too sorry to care about the misery that they put on others.
I hope you find the lousy so-an-so and they get what they have coming. Good luck in all ways, Leon.
keeping my eyes peeled here in the western north carolina mountains..
Kenny, I’m in Central Florida so count on me to check Craig’s List in Orlando and Daytona Beach. I’ll be looking at EBay also.
I will keep my eyes open in arizona things are
Just starting to get going down there.
As a retired cop i have a few ideas if we catch
The responsible party, always hated that part of the
Job when people lose something they worked
Hard to get. There should be an appropriate
Punishment like strapping to railroad tracks.
Sorry to hear this kind of thing hope the best for you
I am ALWAYS on eBay, Amazon and Craigslist and I’ll keep a lookout for this one!
I’m confident that one of us will find it!
So sorry that you are going through this Kenny! 🙁
Steve
Just emailed you about a suspicious listing.
Thanks!
Julia 🙂
Sad to see Steve but if he does or doesn’t get his cart back there is such a thing as insurance. Not talking of the monetary kind but the hardware kind. Ever heard of the Denver boot? It is used by authorities to impound a vehicle essentially immobilizing the vehicle with a steel trap locked over one wheel. Prrricey little puppy but do not despair here in Canada I can get the same thing for around 30 bucks. While monetary insurance might help in some cases what price can you put on lost business? I’m certain there must be a similar type piece of hardware in Pep Boys or some other hardware dealer like that. The one I saw was for 30 bucks on sale but again put yourself in this guys shoes. How much is it worth to avoid weeks, months, possibly years of lost business OUCH. My sympathies to this unfortunate slinger but the point being it is most often preventable. What you are looking for is called a Tire Lock. Google it there many different kinds but you will see what I mean.
If I were this unfortunate slinger I would be on the phone to police with identifying characteristics of the cart and checking Craigslist etc. for that screaming hot deal that looks like his cart. This also brings to mind the police like serial numbers so any plate with a serial number nicely hidden would also help identify a stolen cart. Hope this helps obviously it’s a bummer situation the sooner he can get operational again the better.
I HOPE YOU FIND OUT WHO DID THIS TO YOU . AND GET THE CART BACK IT IS ROUGH TO JUST START AND HAVE THIS HAPPEN . IM IN CHICAGO THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME NOT ONLY IN CHIC EVERYWHERE? WELL GOOD LUCK.
If, I see that stand in Texas, I will send you an email and contact the police and give you the location that I saw it and the day and the time. I am not everywhere in Texas, I am in the Heart. However if, it may passes this way going to Mexico, you will hear from me.
Gregory
i would talk to local press see if thay will lend a hand with some ad’s or air time, this is more then theft.
hand bill your area someone may have seen something not knowing what it was ASAP

I’m in central SC and will keep an eye out. Where in South Carolina was it stolen?
I’m here in Columbia,SC. I’ll be looking out for them. What part of SC were they stolen in?
If it transports to California, I will contact you.
A crime that should be punishable by death! Seriously though, i really hate to hear about things like this. That really sucks. But I think we’re gonna see more of this until the economy improves. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t condone behaviour Like this at all. But there are a lot a folks out there, normally good people, that are desperate to pay their bills and feed their family. Until Washington gets their poop in one sock and repeal some of these anti-small business laws and regulations nothing is going to change. oh sure, there will always be thieves but until the citizens of this country wake up and vote pro business I’m afraid it’s only going to get worse. I’ll pray for you and your family and I’ll also pray for the their. They obviously need God to intervene in their life. Good luck fellow hot dogger
Hi Kenny, I will be leaving for bike week in Florida next week and i will keep my eyes open for a cart like yours. I am from upstate New York, near the Canadian border, and will keep a eye on Craigs list and ebay for you. Later, Rosie’s

I’ll keep my eyes open, for some reason sooner or later everything ends up here in South Florida. Pat.
i live over in the oregon area and one never knows where people like this will take it to get rid of it, ill keep my ears and eyes open for ya. its heart breaking that ignorant people are out there like this trying to mess us up. to many slinggers out here to get pass us. we find it right.God bless you. keep the faith
Ken,
I am confident the carts will show up,and it is of little consolation but if you have a police report (which I am sure you do) I believe you can claim the loss and be reimbursed on your homeowners insurance. Just a thought.
Kenny, I will keep an eye out for you in Denver,CO and the surrounding area. That really sucks especially in this economy where many slingers. like myself, have had to re-create themselves after a job loss and start their own business. I’m sure these items will be recovered somehow and hopefully in good condition so that you can get goin’ again right away. We are all one big family in the hot dog business !
Steve…thanks for getting the word out there !
Bob Mickells : )
I’m in tulsa and have checked craigs list but have not seen in. Really sorry. Will continue to check and will keep my eyes open.
Kenny,
Sorry to hear of your loss. I’ll keep an eye out on the for sale boards and the like in my area. I’ve re-posted this page on my Facebook page [ https://www.facebook.com/Bearadise.413 ] and will keep the word going till we hear your equipment is recovered. If I hear of it around here, I’ll give you a call straight away.
Rich
Hi, this is Kenny Grant , Great News! The trailor was pulled over and 3 people are now in jail. Yes the police found it. I want to thank Steve and everyone that called or emailed me for the kind words & prayers and just say you people are the best I’ve ever
