Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest last week. Man, did those comments come in fast! I was watching on my iphone from a restaurant near the beach.
So I’m officially back from vacation.ย You know life is good when you can’t wait to get back to work.
I recently spoke with Rocky Marlow about his hot dog cart operation in a suburb of Minneapolis.
Rocky is another unfortunate victim of the recent economic weirdness and found himself without a job. Instead of sitting around feeling sorry for himself, he decided to take charge of his situation and pursue a long time dream.
With the support of his family, “Rocky’s Wiener Wagon” was born.
A great location in downtown Hopkins was secured and Rocky was on his way. He says he’s enjoying a lot of success and having a wonderful time as well.
I always say, when one door closes another one opens and Rocky’s new business is proof.
Enjoy the show!

Nice cart!
Good luck! This is a great busness. We sell Italian sausages also. They go together as we use a two mobile kitchen. We started two weeks ago and things are looking up. When on edoor closes, believe me another will open.
Wow! That is really great. My hubby is getting his business started as well and stories like Rockies really motivate you. Congrats to Rocky. ๐
Wow Steve,
Rocky sounds like he had a great launch. It’s good to hear that after only 9 days his business is in full swing and already booking future events. I wish him the best! I appreciate you promotion of the little guy. I love a success story.

Love this site!!! It’s like being part of a club that only the Hot dog cart community belongs to. Very happy for Rocky and his family. Can’t WAIT to get my cart on the road. Kate
Hey Steve,
Great interview with Rocky. He sounds like he’s been doing this for years. Keep up the good work…
P.S. I think it’s time to plan a Hot Dog Convention,,,I’ll nominate the Seattle area for the first one…What does everyone say?
Steve and Rocky I really enjoyed this interview!
Rocky could you touch on the permits you got for your downtown area. Did you 2, 4 day permits?
Thanks,
Bob
Great interview Rocky
I have been building my business in our downtown. I was doing $20. a day the first week then 35.00 then 40 now really close to a 100 a day. With after hours doing 100 an hour. The students aren’t back yet to really get things going but the potential is huge.
Great to see another “Hot Dogger” livin the dream!
Go get em’ Rocky!
Steve
Great interview it like you were talking to me. I was in the same boat as rocky. I started my hot dog business and I’m having a lot of fun with it. Rocky keep up the good work.

Another outstanding interview. This is a great lifestyle. Not a job. Rocky, Nice Cart! Steve, I agree with you. One bad day on the cart is better then a lifetime of good days in the office. Good luck Rocky! Have fun. That is what itโs all about.
So great to hear these success stories. Amazing that Rocky got off sprinting immediately. As the say in the real estate biz, it’s all about LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Keep it up, buddy. Thanks for the support you give to all of your readers, Steve.
