Hey there Slingers, it’s Hot Dog Cart Radio time!
Oh my gosh, it’s been waaaay too long, but we’re back and we have a great show for you today.
Most folks don’t think about selling their hot dog vending business when they are just starting out. But that is exactly the right time to start planning your exit strategy!
There are things that you can do from the beginning that will drastically increase your return when you decide to cash in. Instead of settling for the price of your depreciated rig (disappointing), you can sell a whole business for 10 times what you would get for a used hot dog cart (very exciting)!
I started my first hot dog vending business with a $500 home made hot dog cart. Although I didn’t know it at the time, I was doing many of the things that you are about to hear in this interview. When I sold that same home made cart a few years later I walked away with a check for $20,000. The difference? I wasn’t selling a used cart. I was selling a business.
Listen in as I talk with Jack Clark of Jack’s Last Stand about building a business that will sell.
It’s all in this edition of the Original Hot Dog Cart Radio
~ Broadcasting from HotDogProfits.com since 2009 ~
Show Notes: These topics were discussed in today’s show.
Hot Dog Cash Tracker Software: Keep your books with the click of a button. Record keeping is the key to building a business that will sell.
E-Z Built Hot Dog Cart Video and Plans Package: Build your own hot dog cart using $799 worth of hardware store parts.
Here are some pictures of the cart that Jack built as discussed in the show. It’s a beauty.

Hi,
I was just wondering if you sold location rights with your business or was it just the cart. Perhaps you only did events with this cart. If that is the case then did you sell it with event contact info as well as the P & L? Did they ever want to see bank statements and W-2’s as well as P & L?
What made it a business sale instead of just a cart sale?
Did you include your start-up name as well?
Is the income from sale taxable or is it like selling a jet-ski?
Just curious….
Thanks for your time Jack..

Question: How do some of you guys handle rain and cold weather?
I go home, lol. But that’s just me – I HATE cold weather. However, if you dress warm (especially your feet) you can sell a ton of hot food when it’s cold outside. More than you can in hot weather.
what cheese is best to carry?
Hi Joe,
Shredded cheddar is really good on a dog, but be sure to keep it in a cooler. When it gets warm, it sticks together and is a pain in the butt to work with. I also like the Easy Cheese in an aerosol can. It’s really good and does not need to be refrigerated.
