Hey Slingers (and those who want to be),
This is one of my favorite times of the year. Why? Because I have time to do all the stuff that I’ve been putting off all year.
Let me tell you a story about two lumber jacks who were in a tree cutting contest. When the starting whistle blew, the first lumberjack went all out and just sawed, sawed, sawed, sawed, non-stop. Sweat was pouring down his face. His muscles ached. He felt like his heart was going to burst.
The second lumberjack sawed then sat down for a while, sawed some more and then stopped for a while, sawed some more… and… WON!
The first lumberjack asked him what he was doing during his breaks. The second lumberjack answered, “I was sharpening my saw.”
Now is the time to sharpen your saw slingers! Time to replace that broken tail light lens (backed into the garage door frame? Yeah, I’ve done that too, lol).
Time to repack your wheel bearings, give the cart a good cleaning, and maybe do some modifications.
You could add a side shelf, install an extra umbrella mount, or put in a dual propane tank mount. How about getting your pans in order and reconfiguring your steam table.
‘ should take the time to re-watch Dales awesome videos on advanced steam pan set ups here: http://hotdogprofitspremium.com/hot-dog-cart-training-videos/a-day-at-the-hot-dog-cart-part-7-cart-configuration/
So let me know what you’re doing to sharpen your saw. Are you building a new cart? Modifying the cart you have? Let’s talk about it in the comments and share our ideas with each other.

P.S. I just got an email from Will Hodgskiss. He’s running in a marathon in London to raise money for Childline which helps at-risk youth. If you would like to sponsor him here is the link: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/willhodgskiss
Aye matey !

Arrr har har !
Or a PVC flag pole !!
1St Mate Jim.
Whatever floats yer boat!
I added the side shelf last season. More room helps. How do you add a dual propane mount. I need that.
You can fabricate a cage using flat stock if you know how to weld. Otherwise there are dual propane tank mounts available from RV supply shops.
Check local auto recyclers. they often have old campers in for scrap , the propane cage should only be a few bucks.
Great tip Joe!!!!
I’m just recovering from my second carpal tunnel surgery. The first closed me early this year so I’m not doing much for a while. But later, got some repairs to do.
Get well soon!

PS Balance your Business by being a bean counter away from your cart.
Agreed. Indeed!
Sharpen the saw? I’m still slingin away! My customers are threatening me with bodily harm of I even think of not setting up “this time of the year”
Steve, thanks for all your help here, and when you’ve answered my questions and phone calls
Great problem to have Mike! Sell ’em all.
Thanks for the tip.
I think my water may be in the way. I will have to research.
Chicago has just passed an ordinance allowing food carts to operate in the city. This is HUGE!!! Should hopefully take affect summer of 2016. Working on getting a permit and jumping thru their hoops to make it happen. I believe the permit is something like $285.00. For Chicago that’s a bargain. Life should be good if this materializes.
That is huge. Keep us posted Jim!
I sent you pictures on Messenger. The cart passed inspection today. I’ll start selling tomorrow. Thank-you for all of the info you supply us.
Going to build a new/bigger cart, Have an opportunity for a GREAT location and contemplating going all in, full time Yikes!!!
COB’S DOG’S
and maybe changing the name….everyone thinks I sell corn!
Nice Chris! Yeah… maybe a name change would be a good idea, lol.
