Recognize these guys? Deadliest Catch.
That’s Gary in the middle. He made $2500 with his eyes closed… 🙂
Steve,
Thought you might like this. Hot Dog Willie’s first event, Island Aid in Grand Isle Louisiana, $2500.00 in about 6 hours!
O.K. here’s the deal. I’m a real estate broker in the New Orleans area. I own 3 real estate companies. We are always thinking of new ways to make a profit since hurricane Katrina has killed the business.
One day, my wife says, hot dogs.
We are not the type of people to “test the waters”. If we’re going to do something, we’re going to jump right in. We ordered the cart and decided to name it “Hot Dog Willie’s”. Willie is my 180 lb. Great Dane.
The pics attached are from the beginning of Island Aid in Grand Isle, a benefit concert for fishermen affected by B.P.
Island Aid had about 10,000 attendees, we profited $2500.00 in about 6 hours. I apologize for not sending more pictures, we got so busy, we didn’t have time to take any.
We have other events lined up with estimates of 60,000, 90,000 and 150,000 in the next two months.
Hot Dogs. Who would have guessed that?

Owner, Hot Dog Willie’s

Gary is living proof that you don’t have to quit your day job to get started in the hot dog biz. You can just work a couple of days a month if that’s all you have time for.
Would an extra $2500 a month change your life? Let me know in the comments…

That is awesome! Sounds like you might need some of us other doggers to come down to help out!
So, was it a benefit to raise money for themselves or others?
Good going, guys! Keep up the good work!

Great Job Hot Dog Willies!!
You probably had more fun than selling real estate .

Congratulations Gary! It’s always great to read here about fellow dogger’s doing well in this business even though this country is having a terrible recession.
Congratulations Gary! Big Bucks in a Bad Economy. Well done.
Gary
Congrats on event, best of luck to all in the Gulf.
Congratulations, not only did you make great money, it looks like you were in a nice place to do it. How much stock did you bring ? Did you sell out ? I wish you the best of luck with your future festivals.
COOL , I NEED TO GET A CART !!!
GOD BLESS !!!
Wow!that’s very impressive.Right on way to go guys.I’m just above you in Arkansas if you feel you need a hand with all that business.LOL..Awesome..
I read this yesterday and I have just now picked my jaw up off the floor.
This is amazing! Congratulations!!!
Well, howdy neighbor! Out here on the bayou, we associate New Orleans with Lucky Dog carts.
I have 2 late night gigs at the bars near campus where I make my living, plus spring and fall seasonal stuff for the city and the science museum that are great money makers. The weekday lunch gig fluctuates so much, I often blow it off. There are also many free (to me) events close to here such as crafts fairs and festivals. The local print and TV media have been a big support. Good, positive free press – can’t beat it! And our first Frat pool party catering gig was busted by the SWAT team last month…Got to go home early (always get paid up front at catering gigs and frat parties!)…
Being a south Louisiana, Gulf Coast operation myself, I sure would like to know more about the kind of upcoming events to which Gary refers.
$2500.00 in 6 hours is NOT a realistic figure. I’m sure most of these people came because of who they were and NOT what they were selling.
Hey Robert,
No, you won’t make that kind of money at your local car show, but you’ll can realistically make a hundred bucks an hour at small events which isn’t small change by anyone’s measure.
The kind of money made by Gary is totally realistic at a special event with a big name draw such as this one, and you can find those events all over the country if you are willing to travel a bit. That’s the big leagues.
Thanks for keeping it real!
-Steve
Gotta agree with Robert M. At $5.oo a dog that is 83 dogs an hour or over 1 dog per minute. Pretty difficult when it takes 4-5 minutes to cook them. Only way is to cook off cart and use the cart just for serving. I don’t believe this can be done on a small 1 man cart even with help.
Hey Bill,
I can cook a dozen dogs in six minutes on my E-Z Built cart. That’s 120 an hour. It can be done on a normal sized cart but you are right, you will need a helper to take the money and make change.
