You probably remember Ron’s orange E-Z Built Hot Dog Cart. It’s full of incredible details like the cool recessed squeeze bottle holder in the picture above.
Well he just showed me how he made a simply INGENIOUS removable shelf for it. Read on…
Steve. just wanted to share this with you. I made a easy on and off shelve 40”x 6” 16 ga. with two 1” 1/2 bends, I screwed a small hunk of metal, to keep the center from bending under extra loads. Thanks, and keep up the good work. Ron

This is brilliant. Look at the pics below- they’re self explanatory. Now get bending!
-Steve
P.S. If you can’t bend it at home a sheet metal shop could whip this up in five minutes.

That really classes it up some. Very good job!
GREAT IDEA!!!!!
Very nice!
This is neat
It’s the simplest things that make life easier. Time to measure cut and bend. Thanks Ron. That’s what I love about this news letter; the great ideas and the sharing! No more reaching over the pans and melting my winter coats on the edge of the cart as I load the sled!
Great Job! Very nice work for sure. I love to see the ingenious ways people come up with to make things work.
@Tiki,
Where are you located? Your name caught my eye for a personal reason. Love it.
NICE, more work space is always good.
Very innovative, there are so many little things we can do to our carts to make them work more efficiently. Well done!
I love it! Gotta get started right away. Your cart is awesome. Much success.
Hi Robin, My husband and I are located out of Villa Park, Il.. We were finally approved by the county Health Dept just before Halloween-late in the season. We partnered with Sooper Lube for a spot in the parking lot for Saturdays. BRRRR! Only missed a few Saturdays due to snow. Our theme is Polynesian Pop. My husband is now measuring the cart in order to install the shelf that Ron shared with us.
This is for robin/ lakeside lunch
I live in kingman az. and thanks to all of you for your comments.
Really good idea! The thing I love about this newsletter is the creativity exhibited.
Question for Ron: Is there a catalog where you get the bubble top for over the steamer???
thanks
That is one of the coolist ideas yet. Great job you should be very proud. Good luck.
man bites dog if you look on the comments from when I sent cart pictures in there is a web site or two on the bubble top Thanks Ron
Love the idea!! Best of luck to you as you dog-it.
Bulldoggies, went to your site. Buck Owens rules. I’ll check out the links tomorrow. I’ve measured Rons idea to my cart. Now to find the metal. Not to hard since my brother is a metal guy. Steve, I’m not a computer guy, so I hope I’m not using up to much of your space. My wife knows this stuff better than I. She’s learning Twitter [makes since to me] and face book [what????]. Tikiman.
thanks for the update !ive been out of touch !
Nice work on the shelf Ron. Great Idea!!!!
There we go again !!!!GREAT AMERICAN
IDEAS!!!!!!BY GREAT AMERICANS!!!!
I can’t wait to make mine! Love this!
Steve helped to get me in touch with Ron/Kingman, and I was invited over to look at his cart. I have to say there are MUCH more things about this cart that haven’t even been talked about yet. He extended his cart several inches both front and back, the battery is located just under the sink so there is more storage area inside the cart, and SO-O-O-O many more things he did to and for his cart, like the SS shelf for the two burner b-b-q, the holder for the condiments, the ULTRA clean way he ran his propane lines and much much more. Thank you Steve for the plans and thank you Ron/Kingman for the ideas. I guess I’ll have to build TWO carts now, the first to learn all I can about building a cart, and the second to put some of those beautiful ideas to work. @Ron, you are a GENIUS for what you have done.

I am going to have to stop coming to this site because just when I think I am done with my cart a great idea like this gets posted. My girlfriend just rolls her eyes at me now cause she thinks I am goin nuts everytime I tell her we need to add something after seeing the awesome carts on here.
Can anyone else figure out how the shelf is kept from shifting right or left and then falling off? It seems like if it shifts just a bit either way (off of the cart handle) than that end will fall down. Perhaps it fits tight enough over the cart handles nice and snug and shifting isn’t an issue? I also see the tab in the middle and it looks like there is a corresponding hole in the shelf that matches up to it somehow…not sure what’s going on there….
